Day 4 - St. Thomas, Virgin Islands

Our first stop is St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. The US Virgin Islands are America’s paradise, offering an easygoing blend of island ways and American practicality. St. Thomas, capital of the island group, offers every imaginable sport: snorkeling, golfing, hiking, and sailing. Just a few miles away lay St. John and Virgin Islands National Park. Stunning mountain scenery, crystalline waters, and white-sand beaches with palms swaying in the breeze – the US Virgin Islands are truly a slice of paradise. The harbor is easily one of the Caribbean’s most scenic. The United States purchased the Virgin Islands from Denmark for $25 million in gold. St. Thomas has a reputation as a duty free-mecca for shopping. Activities and points of interest in St. Thomas include Magens Bay, one of the world’s best beaches as selected by “National Geographic” magazine, St. Thomas’s diverse landscapes, which offer a variety of outdoor adventures, Coral World, a 4.5-acre marine park that offers an underwater observatory with 360-degree views of fish and other sea creatures as well as the opportunity to pet sharks and hand feed stingrays, Mountain Top, a totally rebuilt mecca on top of a mountain, featuring souvenir shopping and excellent views of St. Thomas and its neighboring islands, the St. Thomas Skyride to Paradise Point, a modern aerial cable car, offering the best sightseeing in the Virgin Islands, snorkeling & diving amongst sunken boat wrecks, breathtaking coral reefs and a colorful spectrum of marine life, and downtown Charlotte Amalie which offers an impressive array of shops catering to cruise ship passengers.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 5 - St. Maarten

Our second stop is in St. Maarten. St. Maarten offers a delightful case of split personality. Legend has it that a Frenchman and a Dutchman divided ownership of the island through a walk-off: Standing back to back, the two headed in opposite directions, walking around the island until they met. Perhaps the Dutchman paused for a refreshing brew. At any rate, the French ended up claiming 21 square miles of the island to 16 square miles for the Dutch. This lively tale says much about St. Maarten’s easygoing ways. No formal boundary exists between the Dutch and French sides of the island; a simple welcome sign tells you when you cross from one country to the other. But the differences are as noticeable as the spelling of the island’s name. The French spell it St. Martin. And it’s this split personality that lends so much to the island’s charms, including an international reputation for the finest cuisine in the Caribbean. Activities and points of interest in St. Marteen include Philipsburg, the Dutch capital of St. Maarteen with colonial architecture, historic buildings, wonderful shopping and sun-swept beaches, Marigot, the capital city and hub of French St. Martin filled with designer boutiques, sidewalk cafés and bistros and trendy art galleries, Rockland Estate Eco-Park,  the site of thrilling rides like the Sky Explorer, one of St. Maarten’s highest points, and Topper’s Rhum one of the best rum distilleries in the Caribbean. Underwater adventures offered on the island including snorkeling, helmet diving, submarines and more.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 6 - Antigua

Our next stop is in Antigua, the largest of the British Leeward Islands, which boasts one of the Caribbean’s most spectacular coastlines with secluded coves and sun drenched beaches. The island’s rolling hills are dotted with stone sugar mills, relics from the bygone era when sugar was king. Historic Nelson’s Dockyard, where Admiral Horatio Nelson quartered his fleet in 1784, attests to Antigua’s long and colorful nautical history during colonial times. And St. John’s, the island’s bustling capital, offers visitors a wealth of boutiques, restaurants and pubs. Activities and points of interest in Antigua include Nelson’s Dockyard, the finest example of a British naval yard in the Caribbean with a museum, boutiques, and restored buildings that are part of the area’s designated national park, Shirley Heights photo stop and historical site with commanding views of English Harbor and Nelson’s Dockyard, Dow’s Hill Interpretation Centre, a multimedia presentation celebrating Antigua’s colorful history from prehistoric days to the present, Fig Tree drive, a picturesque road that winds through lush vegetation, rainforest foliage, and fruit groves, and Stingray City where you can swim with the “Brightest Rays in the Caribbean” in a safe, aquatic adventure that is fun for the whole family. There are also 365 pristine white-sand beaches on Antigua. The tranquil turquoise waters beckon you to swim and snorkel while the sparkling shores invite you to relax in the sunshine.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 7 - St. Lucia

Our next stop is St. Lucia, nestled below the Pitons, twin peaks rising over 2,600 feet above the azure waters of the Caribbean. St. Lucia is an oasis of tropical calm. The island’s capital, Castries, is a town of charming, pastel-colored colonial buildings, home to some 60,000. Yet despite its peaceful setting, St. Lucia has a turbulent and colorful history. Fierce Carib warriors overran the peaceful Arawaks in the 9th century. The first European settler, Francois Le Clerc, was a French buccaneer. Le Clerc’s countrymen followed in his wake, establishing the town of Soufriere in 1746. Sugar was the lure, sugar was king. Within four decades some 50 plantations flourished on the island. Thus St. Lucia became part of the Caribbean’s 18th-century trade triangle of sugar, slavery, and rum. Today this beautiful island welcomes visitors drawn to its exotic tropical landscape, superb beaches, crystalline waters, and colorful marine life. Activities and points of interest in St. Lucia include the majestic twin peaks of the Pitons, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which seem to rise straight from the blue waters of the Caribbean Sea, Sulphur Springs Drive-In Volcano, Diamond Botanical Gardens, Soufriere, the island’s oldest town, and the reputed birthplace of Napoleon’s Empress Josephine, Pigeon Island, a 40-acre islet and beautiful nature park, Marigot Bay, and Morne Fortune, a 17-century strategic outpost which enjoys sweeping views.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Barbados

Now it’s on to Barbados. Barbados is one of the few Caribbean islands solely colonized by one nation. It’s no wonder Bajans describe their country as being “more English than England sheself,” surnames like Worthing and Hastings abound. But look around and you know you’re not in England: rich and fertile tropical fields meet a glistening, azure sea. The soft pastels of old chattel houses blend with the vibrant reds, oranges, and greens of roadside fruit stands. In short, Barbados exudes a charm all its own. Perhaps it is due to Bajan culture, that celebrated blend of English tradition and the African heritage brought to the island by slaves imported to work the sugar plantations. The potent brew which results flavors every aspect of island life, from music, dance and art, to religion, language and food. Activities and points of interest in Barbados include Harrison’s Cave, a massive cave system features 50-foot high caverns, rushing streams, glassy pools and a thunderous 40-foot waterfall that cascades into an emerald lake, Andromeda Botanical Gardens, a 6-acre botanical garden renowned for its excellent collection of tropical flora including many varieties of ferns, orchids, and one of the world’s largest palm trees, Foursquare Rum Distillery, the most modern rum distillery in the western hemisphere proudly continuing the 350-year-old Barbadian tradition of rum making, Turtle Encounter where you swim with amazing sea turtles in their natural habitat, Gun Hill Signal, Sunbury Plantation, a beautifully renovated and maintained sugar estate house, snorkeling & diving in the clear waters of Barbados. Finally, the luscious beaches of Barbados are a paradise of sparkling aquamarine waters, rolling waves, beautiful coral formations and velvety sands that perfectly cushion those who bask in the sun.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 9 - At Sea

This day finds us at sea. Enjoy sweeping views from one of more than 1,400 balconies on Crown Princess, including 270-degree views in the Sky Suites, our largest balconies at sea. Plus indulge your senses with Princess dining favorites and experience spectacular productions with live entertainment.

Meals included: (B, L, D)

Day 10 - Disembarkation in San Juan, PR

We return to San Juan and disembark the Crown Princess. We transfer to our post-cruise hotel and check in. Later, we gather for an included farewell dinner.

Meals included:  (B, D)

To enjoy this tour, you should be prepared to walk slightly longer distances, climb stairs and tolerate periods of standing, for example on city walks, sightseeing stops or ship excursions. The daily pace and timing can fluctuate significantly between longer and shorter travel days, with additional activities possibly occurring in the early morning or evening. There may be some changes in altitude or temperatures.

Appropriate for: Most travelers beginning with those who are moderately fit, lead semi-active lives, are comfortable participating in long days of activities and expect some physical exertion without the use of a cane or walker mobility aid.

Visit our Activity Level Ratings page under Plan Your Tour for full information on the ratings system.

ITINERARY

For your reference, we send to you a detailed itinerary approximately 3-4 weeks prior to the scheduled tour departure. This has day-by-day times and events, hotel information where you can be reached in case of an emergency, and airline information.

The times listed on the itinerary are all approximate. We cannot be held responsible for schedule changes due to unforeseen circumstances with the weather, transportation agents, highway conditions, hotels or contracting agents.

AIRLINE TICKETS

You will be issued your boarding pass the morning of our departure, after your arrival at the Albuquerque International Sunport. If you have an airline frequent flyer number, or a TSA number, please call our office at least 3 days prior to the tour to ensure we can note these in your reservation.

If you are joining the tour from locations other than Albuquerque, we can make other arrangements for you to join the tour. Please call our office for more details.

AIRPORT SECURITY

Do not forget to bring your government issued picture ID to show at the airport. A Driver’s License or Passport is preferred. If you do not have the proper ID, the airline will turn you away.

BAGGAGE

We have arranged for handling for one piece of luggage per person regarding the skycaps (where available) and hotels. If you check through luggage note that the maximum weight for the checked piece of luggage is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height). If your bag weighs over 50 pounds the airlines will levy an extra fee that you will be responsible to pay. If you feel the need to lock your checked through luggage and your bag is searched, your lock could be damaged in the process. You can purchase a TSA (Transportation Security Administration) accepted and recognized lock at any luggage store. Make sure you ask for a TSA approved lock. These locks are the kind that TSA screeners can open by using a special tool without breaking. Passengers can carry-on 1 bag (dimensions are limited to 10x16x24 inches), plus a personal type bag, like a purse. We advise that you pack your carry-on lightly. There are restrictions regarding your carryon baggage and contents due to enhanced security measures. If you have further concerns, please visit the TSA's Web-site at www.tsa.gov. There is room inside the motorcoach for your hand carried bag.

CHECKED BAGGAGE FEES

On our preferred airline for this tour, passengers are assessed a fee per checked in bag, by the Airlines, upon checking in for the flight.

EMERGENCY CONTACT

It is always a good idea to carry on your person a list of medications that you are taking and an emergency contact phone number while you are traveling. And we suggest making a copy of the itinerary and provide it to a friend or family member.

GRATUITIES/ITEMS INCLUDED IN PRICE

The traditional end-of-tour gratuity is included on this tour. All hotel porterage and airport skycap (when available) fees are included. We also include the gratuities for the coach/livery drivers. Hotel housekeeping tips are not included. Tips for guides/services on optional excursions or individual on-ship services are not included.
